As of 1 March 2018, Hong-Kong-based companies must maintain a significant controllers register and must designate at least one person as designated representative to assist the company in relation with such register (Section 653ZC of the Companies Ordinance).
The designated representative can only be a natural person residing in Hong Kong who is a director, employee or shareholder of the company or an accounting or legal professional or a person licensed to carry on a business of trust or company service provider (TCSP).
As a company service provider holding TCSP licence number 18 , MLS Company Secretary can be designated as Hong Kong companies’ representative and act as the contact of Hong Kong law enforcement officers concerning the significant controllers register.
